Memory

I'm working on specs for some servers that will run MS SQL server. I have discovered some interesting things about memory. Feature Details FAQ Glossary System RAM, or memory, refers to the amount of data that can be stored on its journey from the hard drives to the processors, and vice versa. With more RAM, the processor will have to retrieve information from the hard drives less often, speeding the overall performance of the system. While some applications, such as email, require more RAM than others, all applications can benefit from increased memory. Dell servers feature DDR2 memory, which enables systems to improve performance and reduce power consumption. Select the right amount of memory based on your application and number of users 4GB 8GB 16GB+ File sharing/print 50-200 users 200-500 users 500+ users Messaging and Collaboration – Email 50-200 users 200-400 users 400+ users Web Server/Caching 200+ users Infrastructure/Systems Management 200+ users Database 5

Finally Another Afro

Image
Yeah, that is me with my hair combed out in to a fluffy sheep's wool like Afro. I have been letting my hair grow and I have not cut it since about January 2005. Normally I do not fluff it out like this but this weekend while I was sitting in front of the TV on Saturday I just started to comb it out with my big pink comb.

I have moved my Linux server from Elgin, Texas to the West Lake area west of Austin, Texas where I am living. I have also upgraded the OS from Redhat 9 to Fedore Core 4 (with PHP 5). Having the server at my fingertips at my home is nice. The bandwidth is provided by Road Runner business class 5 Mbit down and 768 Mbit up. My web sites are not heavy traffice sites so I believe that the traffic will not be too slow but let me know if thee is a problem.

Hooterween Garbage Hole Lighthouse

This is the image that I started a little over a week ago. I have put about 50 hours of work into it. I am pretty near being complete on this image. I'm debating about darkening the backgound that is lime green. I will take advantage of my digital camera and PhotoShop and do a test to see how it looks. I have never done this approach and I'm not sure that I want to start doing digital what-ifs with my analog art.

I am working on another color pencil drawing. I will include the working images in here. This is my starting image. I am taking pictures to show progress as I define colors and figure out what I am drawing. I take a picture about every hour. So as I was drawing this I wondered what was on the right image off the page. It is interesting that I often wonder what is over there off the canvas or illustration that was not drawn . Well I decide to tape another board next to the one that I was already working on and see for myself. I currently have about 8 hours of work into this project
