Screws In My Coffee

Looking for a compact digital camera. This is the spot for taking notes. I want a small camera with a decent lens that takes raw images. It must also have manual F-stop and aperture settings.  I take a lot of pictures from my bike like this one .  My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 takes good images, but I want better. I have an ancient Canon EOS 10D with a Cannon EF 20mm 1:28 lens.  I love taking still life and landscape photos with this camera and super sharp lens.  The dang thing is so heavy that I do not want to ride with it unless I am really on a camera taking picture ride. The The Fujifilm FinePix F900EXR This is another possibility. Generally I have always purchased Canon cameras, but I may have to change.

When I was doing my marathon driving on my way home from Lincoln, Nebraska to Albany Georgia I stopped on the interstate to take these pictures.  I had spotted the beauty of these fields of grain on my way to Lincoln and in my rush to get there I did not stop to take pictures.  I was amazed to see the morning light happen just like it did on trip to Lincoln so I had a second chance to capture the beauty.  As always my disclaimer is that i can never capture the real beauty that I experience in real life with a camera.  My man purpose is to document the memory as close as I can.  I posted pictures of this scene with my smart phone on Facebook a few days ago, but these images were taken with the big old canon EOS 10D This was one of those moments that I decided to capture with my camera.  my favorite time of day for taking pictures is about one or two hours just after sunrise or before sunset.  This is when...

I was getting ready to go to work one morning and stepped outside my house on the Lone Worm Ranch. When I looked east towards the forest the sun was just peaking over the trees. This I had seen many times but what was above was a huge thunder cloud that had the most beautiful lighting. I took a picture but it hardly does justice to being able to stand and look east then gradually arch your back until you are looking straight up at beautiful clouds.

For me happy hour is about 1 to 2 hours before sunset when there is what photographers call golden light. This photo is in my opinion one of the best that I have taken. Aaron Johnson a friend that I have been sharing a hotel room with and working with on a farm near Boardman, Oregon. I had described taking a photo like this the night before to Aaron. Friday evening we were driving out to a tower 7 miles from shop on the farm. I was looking out the truck window watching the wheat when the composition that I had described appeared.

My interest is night photography was rekindled by a woman that I met on the Sift to Bikes Mystery Night Rides in Portland Oregon. Ayleen uses a film camera and takes pictures of the group when the mystery ride reaches its destination. I first started taking pictures at night with my long gone AE-1 when I had a paper route for the LA Times in the 1980s. I used ISO 64 slide film and took pictures during short breaks in the early morning.
