The Official launi.com Blurb Page

Well I turned nifty fifty on 04/16/02 and now I'm on a mission to get all my web pages bonified with the WC3.

Well it has been a while since I've updated this page. I have added another server to my domain and now do all my DNS myself. I am moving all web sites to the server  Zulu  and I'll use Lanell as my main mail server and primary DNS server.

I've added a  Rant Page  so you can read about my latest gripe.

My 30 year class reunion is being celebrated a year late. I graduated from  La Jolla High School in San Diego in 1970. Although I can not attend the celebration I was inspired to send an essay accounting for my time since high school. The inspiration came from several events that seemed to converge. The first event was reading a draft of a book about my dad's life centering on an organization that he started in La Jolla in 1969. This organization was called Strongly Oriented for Action (SOFA). The next event was my involvement with Oregon's history. While researching the pictures and links on the  Oregon Time Line  I became reacquainted with my fascination with history. The third event was an email from several classmates. Well these events are the inspiration for the addition of more  photographs  of my life before my marriage to Terry in 1982. Yeah I know, another historical home page of worthless family photos. What the heck it's my server and bandwidth. If you are inter...

Ok..Ok..I've done the M$ Adobe backslide on two sections of my server. My Wormley Design area and the new site  somersetwestsoccer.org  are being developed using Adobe GoLive 5.0 on Window$ ME. I love Adobe GoLive 5.0 and since I'm also using it at work I must become proficient at it. At the same time when I back away from Linux desktop tools I make break a through on the server side. I'm routing email for the  SWSC  site on my server. I'm also hosting the domain on the same server as  launi.com  . Now this is a small feat for a Internet Service Provider (ISP), but for me it is a big deal. It shows me that I'm finally making sense of all this Linux config stuff after two years of hacking!

Well I have finally gotten to the point of using my Linux box all the time here at home to develop my web site. I only have a few gripes with a few applications but generally I'm quite pleased.

Originally written on 20000828 OK what is this site all about. Well for the most part this is my learning tool to help me keep up with all this Internet stuff. I guess you could say I am a hobbyist that got tired of and gluing stuff together and cleaning up paint brushes and air-brush equipment. I started off converting my graphic skills into digital ones in the late 80's and was doing fairly well when I got bit by the Linux craze ten years later. I missed the beginning of the computer tinker age by not owning a Commadore 64. The first computer that I used was a mainframe system that I learned CAD on. My first job I used an IBM XT when I worked as a CAD drafter for a company in California. The first computer that I owned was the first color computer Apple made, a Mac IIFX. By then I was sick of DOS and loved the graphical user interface (GUI) that the Mac provided. So when I got wind of Linux, I knew that I had to try it. Now I do not consider myself a computer wiz or a programmer....
