Austin to Portland Trip

The Rig and the PigI drove from Austin to Portland Oregon in my new truck and fifth wheel. I visited with my children and did some sight seeing with Sylvia, her brother John and his wife Phyllis.

I went through Simi Valley on my way to Portland and visited my mother. My mom and her dog Gidgie are doing OK. We did not stay very long and headed up to Valencia, CA to sleep in a Wal-Mart parking lot. We stopped in a Wal-Mart parking lot twice on our return trip, in Sacremento, CA and just before Phoenix, AZ. Stopping for the night in a parking lot is not ideal but it is free and allows you to sleep and then get on the road the next day rested.

img_7227_small.pngThe drive up I-5 was really nice and it gave Sylvia a chance to see the miles of beautiful orchards and farm land. When we got over the Siskiyous pass and into Oregon we were treated to a wonderful show of fall colors. There are a lot of maple trees is Oregon and they were in full show as we drove from Medford to Tualaltin where we stayed in an RV park.

Well finally I have made progress on one of my goals. I have been working on learning PHP and have created my first eCommerce web store. If you want to check it out it is located here . I am going to add artwork to this store and I hope to generate some income from it. One thing for sure is that I'm learning how to create dynamic web pages using PHP and a MySQL database.

Looking for another camera.

Looking for a compact digital camera. This is the spot for taking notes. I want a small camera with a decent lens that takes raw images. It must also have manual F-stop and aperture settings.  I take a lot of pictures from my bike like this one .  My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 takes good images, but I want better. I have an ancient Canon EOS 10D with a Cannon EF 20mm 1:28 lens.  I love taking still life and landscape photos with this camera and super sharp lens.  The dang thing is so heavy that I do not want to ride with it unless I am really on a camera taking picture ride. The The Fujifilm FinePix F900EXR This is another possibility. Generally I have always purchased Canon cameras, but I may have to change.
