This weekend I am continuing the demolition of the master bathroom. I finished ripping out the sheet rock from the closet. I finished up day two by clearing out the shower door and the tile on the shower entry. I was not surprised to find the first signs of dry rot on the wood near the floor. Pictures and video of the work are below.
Exposed wall in master bathroom closet. These electrical circuits are in the powder room. I will make them hot by connecting them to the new fuse I installed.

Massive header in the closet door. Not supporting anything but the doorway. No roof support is on this wall. Not sure why this header is here. Maybe it was scrap and the carpenter decided to use it.
Shower rubber linker in the closet wall.

Well, I finally decided to get Sylvia, my girlfriend to take pictures of me on my bike. I have been bike commuting to work for about 5 weeks this summmer. I average 20-30 miles a day and about 100-150 miles a week. I am preparing for a 100-mile ride at the end of August in Wichita Falls Texas called the Hotter 'n Hell 100 . When I first got to Texas I could not ride 20 miles during the summer heat, but now I can do it just fine. I did have to make some adaptations to my paradigm for cycling in Oregon to cycling here in Austin. I added two water bottles to my bike. I put sports drink powder in them. I use them to hydrate in addition to using my water bladder on my back I had to give up on cloth headbands to prevent sweat from getting in my eyes. I purchased a gutter guard, which is a plastic headband with a gutter that allows the sweat to drip down the side of your face and not into your eyes. I have gotten use to really sweating when I ride. I use to hate head...
I finished a number of lighting projects this weekend at the homestead. These projects have been hanging around for a long time. +Sylvia Wormley wanted a ceiling fan over the kitchen table. She also wanted the chandelier moved from above the kitchen table into the entryway. When we bought the home there were some old T12 florescent bulb lights present. I replaced them with some cheap odd sized florescent bulbs soon after we moved in. The replacement lighting did not last long so version one of the under counter lighting was replaced with version two lighting, LED lights. Old school switch plate covers. I am also going to replace all of the old lighting switches from the old school plates and flippers. When I painted the walls I painted the cover plates as a temporary measure for dealing with the faded bone colored fixtures. New school switch plate covers The new covers will include the modern square switches with the flat rocker flipp...
This blog entery gets it title from a phrase in the song Accidents by Thunderclap Newman . I have come to realize that my attitude towards life was shaped in a large way by the music that I listened to as a teen. This song did not fully materialize into my consciousness until after I had completed the Landmark Forum . Once I realized that I could make up games and set goals for myself to help me get what I wanted out of life I truly felt liberated. The key paradigm shift to the accidents song is that when you are complaining about the game you need to hear this as being coached by yourself or your environment. Let me give you a real life example. Right now I am playing a game that I have not played in a long time. The first time that I played this game was when I lived in Portland Oregon. The name of the game is Bike Commute more miles to work than you drive your truck to work . The rules are simple, I will ride my bike to work more than I drive my truck to work. Instead of com...
