Haulin' Mulch

Image
Yesterday and today I am spreading mulch around the backyard of my house.  Sylvia has a relationship with some local arborists and they deliver wood chips for free to our house.  I am spreading the mulch on bare spots in the yard where the soil has been compacted by the heavy trucks and tractor that were being sued to take out all of the trees last yer. Finishing up on Sunday

Digital Signs

Image
I have been in charge of implementing digital signs where I work.  The technology that I chose to deliver and manage the content was Rise Vision .  For a quick tour check out the link.  rise vision is used to power millions of digital signs all over the world. Today I decided to take a picture of my latest deployment.  I walked around the campus a lot today.  I was wearing my new Beats Studio wireless headphones while I worked. Below are some pictures of the digital signs.  I have experimented with several layouts. I also manage the outdoor marquee

President Obama, Paving the Way

Image
I rarely write about politics, but here goes. Sometimes I get so fed up with nonsense political babble that I have to read and verify facts and data.  If you have an opposing opinion and have some facts to back up your opinion I would like to hear from you in the comments below. I am really looking forward to the next non-white male who is elected for president.  President Obama is paving the way by taking all of the heat and resentment from folks who can not stand to have a president who is non white. I hope you take the time to read the articles that I have referenced below. The Senate GOP's Unprecedented Obstruction In Five Charts Harry Reid Pushes Historic Filibuster Rules Change Larry Tomczak, BarbWire Celebrate Memorial Day By Questioning Obama's Faith I am glad that President Obama is having a rough time.  Po...

My old bike commutes in Portland

Image
I will ride this route when I return to Portland, but today I'm driving this route. For now I'm going to give you some pictures from the Chart House which is overlooking a great view of Mount Hood. I use to ride from 15th and HWY 26 to Sulzer Pumps in NW Portland Industrial area. I also rode to the Rivergate area to Columbia Sportswear warehouse. I rode many times over and around the west hills of Portland. I have forgotten how awesome hills can be on a bike commute.

Albany State University Wireless Network Built with Meraki Equipment.

+ Noore Ghunaym  has a Meraki gnome. This is one of the best network and server administers in the world. I wanted to share some good news about the place that consumes the better part of the day during the week for me.  I work at ASU, not Arizona State University, but Albany State University, home of the Golden Rams in Albany, GA.  If we meet in person I will tell you the back story of why ASU is so important to this tale over a Guinness. Anyway ASU is now featured on the Meraki Cisco web site. There is a Case Study about ASU written on the Customer Stories page .  We are among good company on this page as ASU is listed with MIT and Stanford University among others. My other reason for writing this posting is to make some noise about my friend and co-worker  +Noore Ghunaym .  Most of the time he likes to cut up and be silly, but when it comes to networks, servers and hard drive arrays, this man can do some amazing things. If you are ever on cam...
