Centos 5.5 build 2011

After doing a basic CentOS 5.5 KDE install the first application that



  1. I install is Google Chrome.


  2. If you want to computer to boot straight to the command line, then you need to set your default runlevel to 3. Runlevel 5 will boot you to a GUI by default. In order to change this, edit the /etc/inittab file in your favorite text editor (as root) and locate the first uncommented line in the file. It should look something similar to this:

    id:5:initdefault:

    Change it to look like this:

    id:3:initdefault:
